Friendship Heights Real Estate

18 08 2009

Friendship heights has been exponentially growing in retail space in the last several months.  As Friendship Heights girl, I’ve been keeping myself updated with all of the news.  With so many new luxury stores opening up, one can expect an even bigger influx of stay-at-home moms and traffic to enter our lovely town.

Friendship Heights News:

  • What’s with the neon WWW sign on Willard avenue? The art represents the many w’s of Willard, Willoughby and Whole Foods.
  • Speaking of which, Heights will have their own brand-new Whole Foods in May 2010.
  • The new  high-end shopping area that seemed to have appeared out of nowhere is called Shops at Wisconsin Place. It currently includes: Bloomingdale’s, BCBG, Max Azria, Cole Haan, Eileen Fisher, Giggle (baby boutique), Ilori (sunglasses), MAC Cosmetics, Sephora, Talbots, and White House/Black Market.
  • Opening later this year in the Shops of Wisconsin place are The Capital Grille (steakhouse) and The Tasting Room (wine and cheese bar).
  • MaxMara on Wisconsin Avenue is now closed and will be replaced by Piazza Sempione, a high-end women’s apparel store from Italy.
  • YogiBerry, a vendor which features frozen yogurt, smoothies and shaved ice, is open where the entrance of Linens and Things was previously. Get your fro-yo soon, because it will be closing September 1st to make way for a Halloween Costume store.
  • The remodeled Courtyard by Marriott is now open.   According to one of my coworkers, the hotel is nice but the sheets are rough (probably because they are brand new).
  • CVS is opening a branch in the Chevy Chase Pavilion this fall.
  • The parking Lot between Lord & Taylor and Mazza Gallerie will be the site of a one-story building which will house up to five retailers/restaurants and will be completed in 2011.  Indications are that the new shops will be luxury boutiques.

Judging by the stores and restaurants becoming a part of my little town, the recession does not exist in this bubble.
